I am not a plant person. I have the curse of a black thumb. Plants I try to grow die. They actually probably meet a fate worse then death when I neglect them and they suffer, and then die.
Every plant in my house was given to me as gifts from my good friend Christine. She is awesome. She, unlike me, can grow plants and not kill them.

The zamioculcas plant that she gave me is looking a little spotty. It has holes through some of its leaves, and the ends of its leaves are brownish. I have actually had this plant for a decent amount of time. I can’t remember when it was gifted to me, but she bought it for me because she knows of my ability. She said this was an un-killable plant. Now it is starting to look a little miserable, so I might have to give it back or something.
My zamioculcas has been tested with little to no water, no sunlight, and seems to have surmounted these obstacles well. I watered it today. I hope it perks up. The zamioculcas is also the type of plant that if you cut off a stem and plant the stem; it will grow you a new zamioculcas. (Seen in picture # two). I think my zamioculcas might need a new pot. When do I know that it needs a bigger pot?

My baby zamioculcas started as a stem then grew into three sprouts! Somewhere along the way I killed its brother and sister and now it is back to one stem. The one stem left standing has been exceedingly resilient though.

My third and last plant is new. I got it about a week ago from my friend. She gave me this pot of catnip. That is my cat enjoying it. Once in awhile he sticks his face in the plant. Yesterday the catnip was nearing demise however. It was all wilted, and I thought it was a goner. I did what every black thumb would do, and watered it, eager that that would fix the issue. Today it perked up a bit, but some of its leaves fell off.
So far I have learned:
· Don’t over water plants.
· Don’t under water plants.
· Don’t leave plants in the sun forever.
· Don’t leave plants by the cold window at night in February.
It’s a slow process but I am learning. Hopefully my plant life understands.
Psh, your big zamioculas is fine. The cats keep chewing on mine, and it hasn’t died for 4.5 years, so we’re good. I can’t remember the last time I watered it.
Don’t worry about the catnip leaves falling off. Catnip can take abuse. Water it when it looks wilty. The end.
